India’s Savitri Jindal becomes Asia’s richest woman, surpasses Yang Huiyan

New Delhi: Amid China’s property crisis, Savitri Jindal has left behind Yang Huiyan to become the richest woman in Asia. The property crisis in neighboring China has affected developers in the country, including Huiyan’s firm Country Garden Holdings.

In the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, India’s Savitri Jindal has a net worth of $11.3 billion, thanks to the Jindal Group, renowned for its business across metals and power generation sectors.

However, a sharp decline in assets of Jindal has been noted in July as compared to January.

Who is Savitri Jindal? 

Apart from being the richest woman in Asia, the 72-year-old also happens to be the 10th richest person in a country with a population of 1.4 billion.

The company is the third largest producer of steel in India and operates in the cement, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

China’s Fan Hongwei stands on the second rank in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index of China, with assets worth $11.3 billion.

Yang Huiyan

While, the richest woman of Asia in 2021, Yang Huiyan has now come to the third position in the index. Her assets are evaluated to be Rs 87.11 thousand crores ($ 11 billion).
