McDonald’s offices in US shut for this week, prepares for layoffs notices, says Report

McDonald LayOffs: The company has also asked its employees to cancel all its scheduled in-person meetings this week.

New Delhi: A global fast-food giant, McDonald’ has shut all its offices in the United States (US) for this week as it prepares to notify its corporate staff of impending layoffs, said the Wall Street Journal report.

Last week, the company had informed it employees through mail to start working from home from Monday (April 3) to Wednesday (April 5). The company took this decision to prepare the notification about the layoffs virually, said the report.

However, it is not yet clear about  how many employees will be fired.

According to reports, McDonald’s reportedly in its mail to the employees wrote that “during the week of April 3, we will communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization”.

The company has also asked its employees to cancel all its scheduled in-person meetings this week.

In January this year, the company had said that it would review corporate staffing levels as part of an updated business strategy. It had also said that this could lead to layoffs in some areas and also expansion in others.

Reports also said that the layoffs are likely to be announced on Wednesday (April 5).

This comes at a time when several tech giants like Amazon, Google, Facebook and several others have laid off its emplyess admid soaring inflation.
