Keshub Mahindra passes away: Mahindra & Mahindra former chairman dies at the age of 99 on Tuesday (April 11).

The news about his death was confirmed by INSPACe chairman Pawan K Goenka on his Twitter handle.

Pawan K Goenka in his post said that “the industrial world has lost one of the tallest personalities today…”

Recently Forbes revealed that he is the oldest Indian billionaire with a net worth of $1.2 billion.

Who was Keshub Mahindra?

Keshub Mahindra graduated from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania.

He started working in his father’s company when Mahindra & Mahindra was manufacturing the iconic Willys Jeeps in 1947.

He was also member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Trade & Industry from 2004 to 2010.

After leading the Mahindra & Mahindra Group as a chairman for 48 years, he retired in 2012 and handed thr responsibilities to his nephew Anand Mahindra as his successor.

He also served several Boards and Councils in both public and private domain including Tata Chemicals, SAIL, Tata Steel, ICICI, IFC, Indian Hotels and several others.

Mahindra was also recognised for his contribution to the industry by several other countries.

He was also awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Legion d’honneur by the French government in 1987.
