6 Bollywood movies we wish had a ‘happier ending’

New Delhi: Bollywood, known for its captivating storytelling, has often presented us with movies that leave us with mixed emotions due to their heartbreaking endings. These movies, with their beautiful narratives, outstanding performances, and powerful messages, could have left a lasting impact with more uplifting or satisfying endings. Nevertheless, their ability to stir our emotions and provoke contemplation remains a testament to the impactful storytelling in Bollywood cinema.
Here are few Bollywood movies we wish had a different ending.

1. Devdas

Devdas movie is a heartbreaking tale of love, shattered dreams, and self-destruction. The film draws us into Devdas’ tragic journey, showcasing his inability to unite with his beloved Paro, resulting in a devastating ending that leaves a lasting impact on the viewers’ emotions. We wish Dev and Paro should have seen each other for the one last time.

2. Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela

We were captivated by the tragic love story of Ram (Ranveer Singh) and Leela (Deepika Padukone), inspired by Romeo and Juliet. Although we are drawn to tragedies, we wish they had a chance to live and defy societal barriers, with their parents embracing their love despite caste and clan, symbolizing a change we long for.

3. Aashiqui 2

In Aashiqui 2 Rahul’s struggle with alcoholism and Aarohi’s efforts to help him can be seen as a cliché. Sadly, we anticipated his tragic ending, and Aarohi carries on his legacy with her voice. If Rahul had conquered his insecurities, it would have created a different narrative, teaching others that life isn’t defined by its challenges.

4. Kai Po Che

The movie left a strong Impact as Ishaan (played by Sushant Singh Rajput) tragically dies at the hands of his friend. It is inspired by Chetan Bhagat’s “Three Mistakes Of My Life,” if Ishaan had survived to make his friend Omi understand the true purpose of politics and discourage violence in the name of religion, it could have sparked angle to this sensitive topic.

5. Cocktail

The movie promoted a regressive mindset that should be called out. Deepika’s character, Veronica, is depicted as bold and lively. In the end, Saif Ali Khan’s character chooses Diana Penty’s character over Deepika Padukone’s because she is more socially acceptable to introduce to his parents. If the filmmaker had challenged this belief and had Saif’s character choose Veronica instead, it could have normalized the idea that independent women should not be treated as objects for personal gain, potentially changing some viewpoints.

6. Kal Ho Naa Ho

In the ending of “Kal Ho Naa Ho”, Aman sacrifices his love for Naina and encourages her to pursue her love for Rohit. While Aman’s death adds emotional depth to the story, it would have been heartwarming to see Aman survive and find happiness with Naina, giving the audience a more fulfilling conclusion.
