68th National Film Awards: Vipul Shah-led Jury submits report to I&B Minister, Anant Vijay chaired Best writing category

The National Film Awards is being held after a gap of two years because of the limitations & restrictions necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

New Delhi: Ahead of the announcement of 68th National Film Awards, a 10-member jury led by director producer Vipul Shah submitted the report to Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thackur on Friday.

The Union Minister was full of praise for the 10-member jury. He said that the jury has done an outstanding job in preparing a detailed report on the nominations and awards.

“I want to congratulate all the jury members and all those people whose work was reviewed and would like to congratulate those recipients who will be awarded with the National Film Awards. A word of appreciation for everyone who has done an outstanding job,” Thakur told newspersons.


Apart from Vipual Shah, other jury members included cinematographer Dharam Gulati, National award-winning fame Bengali actor Sreelekha Mukherjee, cinematographer GS Bhaskar, A Karthikraaja, VN Aditya, Viji Thampi, Sanjeev Rattan, S Thangadurai and Nishigandha.

Film personalities who chaired juries

Vipul Shah led the feature film jury. Other notable personalities who chaired other categories included Chitrartha Singh (Non-feature), Anant Vijay (Best writing) and Priyadarshan (Most film friendly state).

Chitrartha Singh, heading the non-feature jury told newsmen that one of the important objectives was to review close to 140 non-feature films and the collection from the North-east regions has really been impressive.

The Best Writing on Cinema category was chaired by journalist Anant Vijay, who is a senior journalist, columnist and author with over 2 decades of journalistic experience. Till date, he has written 9 books on various topics and is the author of bestselling ‘Bollywood Selfie’. He has also won the National Award for Best Writing on Cinema.

Priyadarshan, who chaired the most friendly state category, is a renowned film director, screenwriter and producer. He has predominantly worked in Malyalam & Hindi films.
