’72 Hoorain’: Co-producer Ashoke Pandit responds to critics, clarifies misconceptions

The film, which explores the issues of terrorism and its adverse effects, highlights how the youth can be misled and shown false dreams.

New Delhi: In an exclusive interview with Newsroompost, co-producer Ashoke Pandit addressed the various misconceptions and controversies surrounding the upcoming Bollywood film ’72 Hoorain.’ Pandit’s attempt was to dispel any notions that the movie promotes hatred in society. He emphasized that the film simply presents an optional storyline within the film industry, which has seen divisions due to different perspectives.

The film, which explores the issues of terrorism and its adverse effects, highlights how the youth can be misled and shown false dreams. It is important to note that the film does not target any specific religion but aims to shed light on the social impact of terrorism.

Responding to those who raised objections to the film, Pandit brought attention to the suspension of his Twitter handle when the teaser was released, indicating that he was targeted due to his support for Prime Minister Modi. He further highlighted the overwhelmingly positive response received after the release of the trailer in a grand event. It is crucial to thoroughly investigate responsible individuals who reject the trailer, as there is no frame in the trailer that does not appear in the film.

Pandit also acknowledged the right of every individual in a democracy to express their opinions. Over the past 70 years, the country has been dominated by a specific narrative, but filmmakers have now begun to create films with alternative storylines, which the public has widely accepted. This has created chaos among those who have maintained the same narrative for decades.

The film does not associate terrorism with any particular religion but portrays its impact on individuals from all religions. The director emphasized that the film was not only screened at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) but also in other universities, with the aim of raising awareness among students who have the capacity to bring about change. The name of the institution has been wrongly tarnished.

With the film ’72 Hoorain’ hitting theatres, the filmmakers expect the audience to watch the film with an open mind and understand its underlying message.
