90s pop music sensation, Tarsame Singh Saini aka Tez passed away at 54

He was the lead singer of the band Stereo Nation, formed in 1996, and was called the pioneer of cross-cultural Asian fusion music.

New Delhi: Tarsame Singh Saini, popularly known as Taz from Stereo Nation who ruled the 90s pop music culture has passed away. Reportedly, the sensational singer suffered a liver failure following which he went into a coma. He was 54.

Tez had a hernia and the surgery was scheduled to take place two years ago. However, owing to the Covid-19 outbreak, it was postponed. He dropped the hernia progressed and was placed in a coma. In early March, his health seemed to deteriorate.

As per the reports by Pinkvilla, Taz recovered from a coma later in March, giving everyone optimism about the singer’s recovery. Even his family members issued a message at that time, thanking everyone for their good wishes.

Taz rose to fame with his album ‘Hit The Deck’ in 1989. He was the lead singer of the band Stereo Nation, formed in 1996, and was called the pioneer of cross-cultural Asian fusion music. Tez gifted his fans several albums in the 1990s and his most popular album to date is Slave II Fusion which was released in 2000. It included chartbusters like “Pyar Ho Gaya”, “Nachenge Saari Raat”, and “Gallan Gorian”.

The singer also contributed to several songs in Bollywood. Some of his works include “Daroo Vich Pyar” (Tum Bin), “It’s magic” (Koi Mill Gaya), and ” Mujhpe To Jadoo” (Race) among others.

As soon as the news on Taz surfaced online, his fans started pouring in grief and condolence wishes for his family. Film producer Gurinder Chaddha shared a picture of herself with Taz and wrote, “Heartbroken to hear that a pioneer of the British Asian music scene has just left us. You cannot underestimate my excitement on first hearing #HitTheDeck. By #jonnyZee then ⁦‪@tazstereonation⁩ pure Br’Asian pop fusion. ?? for all the joy you gave me Taz ❤️ ? Singer Jay Sean wrote, “So sad to hear about the passing of this legend. You touched so many lives and continue to as your music lives on. May you rest in peace brother.”
