Plot
The film opens with Su-mi, a teenage girl. She is sitting in a psychiatric hospital. A doctor asks her about what happened. She remains silent and does not answer.
The story then shifts to the past as she and her younger sister, Su-yeon, return to their secluded family home in the countryside.
Their stepmother, Eun-joo, greets the two sisters with an overly sweet yet unsettling demeanor that hints at underlying tension. Their father, Moo-hyeon, remains emotionally distant. He is seemingly indifferent to the strained relationship between his daughters and his new wife.
Su-mi, the older and more assertive of the two, is extremely protective of Su-yeon, who is shy and fearful. One night, Su-mi has a nightmare about a ghostly woman crawling out from under the kitchen sink. When she wakes up, she finds bloodstains on her bed. At the same time, strange supernatural events escalate.
Doors creak open on their own, shadows flicker, and eerie presences seem to lurk within the house.
Eun-joo becomes more aggressive, especially towards Su-yeon. She locks the younger girl inside a wardrobe. Leaving her crying and terrified. Su-mi, outraged, confronts her stepmother. This leads to explosive arguments.
Meanwhile, the supernatural elements intensify. Su-mi begins seeing ghostly figures, and her nightmares become increasingly vivid. During a tense dinner scene, a guest suffers a seizure after seeing a ghostly woman crouched under the table. This confirms that something unnatural is happening in the house.
