The trailer of A Thursday is a high-pitched suspenseful drama exhibiting exciting thrills. The actor seems to play an anti-hero role in the movie. The trailer opens with a kindergarten teacher Naina Jaiswal (Yami) calling the Colaba Police Station and informing them that she has taken 16 of her students as hostages. ACP Catherine Alvarez (Neha Dhupia) enters the scene as a police officer and tries to manage and deal with her demands.

However, Yami next presents her wish to talk to another police officer named Javed Khan (Atul Kulkarni). Atul enters the scene and tries to talk to her about her demands. She further makes a threatening demand saying that she wants to talk to the Prime Minister (Dimple Kapadia). She states that if the police and the PM fail to meet her demands, she would shoot her students in ‘alphabetical order.’

Talking about her role in an interview, Yami said, “I have never played such a distinct character like Naina. She projects so many diverse emotions. I have really put in a lot of effort to portray her in different shades. She is a teacher, who always looks after the children and she has taken them hostage, transforming her from a protector to a threat. That situation itself is so tense with multiple layers to it. A Thursday is an absolute roller coaster ride.”

Neha Dhupia added, “When I first read the script, I immediately wanted to be a part of A Thursday. My role as a pregnant police officer is very unique as I am dealing with a hostage situation wherein children are involved and my character too will soon become a mother. I could relate to the character as I too have kids. The movie’s pace will keep viewers engaged to the last minute. The entire team has worked really hard and put together a thriller which will entertain one and all!”

It is speculated that this movie is a sequel to RSVP’s critically acclaimed 2008 film A Wednesday which starred Naseeruddin Shah, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Anupam Kher in the lead roles.

A Thursday will release on Disney+Hotstar on February 17.
