One of the first backlash was received by Adipurush after one of its lead actors Saif ali khan stated in an interview that the movie is going to showcase a ‘Humane’ version of Ravana.
The actor faced heavy criticism from the netizens over his statement and later had to write down an apology for the same.

This controversy erupted right after the movie’s first teaser was dropped by its makers.
The netizens were left utterly disappointed by Ravans looks in the movie’s initial teaser and bashed the same brutally. Some even went on to say that Adipurush Ravana looks more like Allaundin Khilji Or Aurangzeb.
Later, the movie’s team revised the VFX and fixed the appearance of Ravana along with some other criticized characters of the movie to avoid any further controversies.
Animation studios accuse Adipurush of stealing their work.
Soon after Adipurush’s first poster starring Superstar Prabhas was released back in October 2022, A Maharashtra-based animation studio took a dig at the movie makers by accusing them of Plagiarism.
The studio alleged that the Adipurush poster is copied from the poster of their animated movie titled lord Shiva.

The movie’s ambitious teaser, which came out last year in October soon become meme material after being mercilessly by the people for its cartoonish graphics.
Angry netizens slammed team Adipurush for cheap video game-like graphics of the movie’s teaser. Some even went on to say that the movie’s teaser looks like a cheap copy of Hollywood’s Game of Thrones.
The teaser was also called out for its disrespectful portrayal of Lord Hanuman, Ravana, and other prominent Characters in the movie.
Calls for ban on Adipurush
Amid controversies and criticism over Adipurush’s Initial poster and teaser, A plea was filled in a Delhi court asking for a complete ban on the movie.
The plea was filed by advocate Raj Gaurav who accused the movie’s director and producer of manipulating and misrepresenting the Hindu epic Ramayana.

The latest, and hopefully the last time, Adipurush’s name topped the headlines for the wrong reasons was when the film’s director Om Raut kissed Kriti Sanon on the cheek to say goodbye at the Lord Venkateswara temple. Netizens trolled the two as Kriti is playing goddess Sita.
