After Munawar Faruqui’s Delhi show gets cancelled, fans comes in support of the comedian (SEE REACTIONS)

Notably, since Munawar’s arrest in 2021, his shows have become a law and order issue for the city police forces.

New Delhi: Comedian Munawar Faruqui whose show was scheduled to take place in Delhi on August 28, has been denied permission by the Delhi Police as the central district police cited in a report that the show will affect “communal harmony in the area.”

The show was scheduled to take place at the Dr SPM Civic Centre, Kedarnath Sahni Auditorium, from 2 PM to 9:30 PM. It was regarded as a privately organised show for which permission was granted earlier.

Reportedly, the denial comes after VHP Delhi President Surendra Kumar Gupta objected to the show. Besides, writing to the police commissioner, the VHP leader blamed for the recent Hyderabad clash on the comedian and stated that he mocks Hindu gods in his show.

In its letter to Delhi Police, The Vishwa Hindu Parishad requested a cancellation of the show and warned to protest against the show if it takes place.

Notably, since Munawar’s arrest in 2021, his shows have become a law and order issue for the city police forces. Besides, last week his show was cancelled in Bengaluru owing to his health issues, as reported by him. However, a day after, he was seen performing in Hyderabad amid heavy security.

Munawar Faruqui has a strong fanbase which considerably increased after winning Kangana Ranaut’s reality show Lock Upp. Since his show in Delhi has been cancelled, the comedian has been trending on Twitter. His fans are lending hands of support to him.
