Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ in soup over filmwriter’s anti-Hindu tweets, Internet calls for boycott

Netizens argues that the writer in question Dhillon makes money off the Hindu community, and then mocks the very same communities

New Delhi: Days before its theatrical release on the auspicious occasion of the festival marking bond between siblings, Akshay Kumar’s much-speculated drama film ‘Raksha Bandhan’ is now facing irks from social media users.

The backlash is over the film writer of the project, Kanika Dhillon’s old tweets wherein she can be seen using derogatory remarks on certain Hindu values and customs.

Netizens cite the reason for their anger, arguing that the writer in question Dhillon makes money off the Hindu community, and then mocks the very same communities symbols and beliefs with utter shame.

Kanika Dhillon’s old tweets:

As apparent from the various tweets by the writer, apart from being a strong critic of Prime Minister Modi and his government, she has made several Hinduphobic remarks including ‘gaumata jibe’.

“Dying in the parking lot after waiting for a hospital bed…Yeh aache din hai! India super power hai! Aur gau mata ka mutra peene see Covid chala jayega (These are the good days…India is a superpower. And drinking cow’s urine will cure Covid-19)”, an old tweet read.
