New Delhi: MAPPA Studio, or Heaven on Earth as anime fans call it, is widely considered to be among the industry’s all-time greats. The highly anticipated release date for Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Kojo and the announcement of a new fantasy animation drama were both made public by Mappa Studio recently, much to the astonishment of anime enthusiasts. Famous writer and director Mari Okada is responsible for both the writing and direction of the most recent anime film. The long-awaited anime film will soon be available on over-the-top services.

Storyline
In the latest anime film, Junya Enoki will portray Masamune Kikuiri, a 14-year-old boy. Mutsumi Sagami, played by Reina Ueda, is Masamune’s classmate. Misaki Kuno, portraying the mysterious female character Itsumi, will round out the cast.
Time has come to a standstill in the town where Masamune, a third-year middle school student lives since an unexpected explosion at a steel plant cut up all the exits. The residents endure the stifling heat and humidity in the vain hope that things will return to normality in the future since they are prohibited from making any alterations.
A strange classmate named Mutsumi once led Masamune to the fifth furnace of the steel plant, where they met a female who looked like a wild wolf and couldn’t talk. When the two females encounter Masamune, it throws the world into disarray, and the inevitable “impulse of love” between weary boys and girls starts to wipe out civilization.

Earlier in September 2023, at the MAPPA Stage, Mari Okada unveiled the main cast, story summary, trailer, images, and more for her original anime film. The upcoming January 15, 2024, OTT debut of Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Kojo on Netflix follows the September 15, 2023, release of the anime.

Other Details
The film’s director and writer, Okada, was announced by MAPPA. It is said that Okada is also the creator of the original work. Assistant director Tadashi Hiramatsu and chief animator and character designer Yuriko Ishii are also involved in the production. Kazuki Higashiji is in charge of the art. Masaru Yokoyama is responsible for the score. Warner Bros. is handling distribution for the anime picture.
