New Delhi: Rapper Big Scarr passes away at the age of 22. He was signed to rapper Gucci Mane’s record label and he confirmed the news of Big Scarr’s death. The cause of his death is not known as of now, however, according to some reports, drug overdose has been cited as a reason for it.
Born as Alexander Woods, the rapper took Big Scarr as his stage name and gained popularity for his song ‘Make a Play’. Gucci Mane shared the post saying that Big Scarr’s death hurts him and he will miss him. Big Scarr was signed by Gucci Mane’s 1017 and as part of his Glockoma Tour 2023, he was going to tour with Key Glock, another rapper from his birthplace Memphis.

His death came following the killings of two Memphis rappers, Young Dolph and Snootie Wild. Young Dolph was killed in November 2021 while Snootie Wild was shot in February 2022 in Houston. In 2020, Big Scarr was also shot in his hip while the bullet travelled to his spine.
People from hip-hop and music communities are paying condolence on the rapper’s death. Key Glock, DJ Akademiks and Big Scarr’s 1017 label mate, Enchanting, shared their condolences on social media.

Big Scarr was born on 7 April 2000 in South Memphis and started his career in 2019, with the release of ‘Make a Play’. He is known for his mixtape, titled ‘Big Grim Reaper’, which featured at number 25 on the Billboard 200. He used to rap in ‘gangsta rap’ and ‘trap’ genres.
