Animal earns $40.5 million worldwide surpassing Napoleon and The Hunger Games; Tsunami continues in theatres

Ranbir Kapoor’s capacity to attract audiences to theatres, both domestically and abroad, was further solidified with Animal.

New Delhi: The ongoing latest picture Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, has caused quite a stir at the cinemas. At the box office throughout the globe, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga flick has soared to the top spot. Its first three days at the worldwide box office brought it over $40.50 million (INR 340 crore), starring Ranbir Kapoor.

Animal made Rs 114 crores of rupees worldwide on its first day of release (Friday), and Rs 110 crores of rupees on its second day (Saturday). Earning Rs 116 crores on day three (Sunday) brings the total amount of money earned around the globe to 340 crores.

In its first weekend of release, Animal became the third Indian picture to top the worldwide box office, after Master and RRR. Being the first film of Hindi origin to top the international box office rankings, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer has made history. On a worldwide scale, Animal competed with Napoleon and Hunger Games, but it ultimately prevailed.

While Hunger Games made $30 million (INR 250 crore) in its three days of release, Napoleon made $36 million (INR 300 crore) over the weekend. For the Hindi Film Industry, this is an unprecedented achievement that will go down in history as a watershed moment.

Ranbir Kapoor’s capacity to attract audiences to theatres, both domestically and abroad, was further solidified with Animal.

Furthermore, the picture entered the 200-crore mark in its first weekend at the box office. Animal has also surpassed all of Ranbir Kapoor’s previous debut films.

In India, day one earnings of the film were Rs 63.8 crore, day two was Rs 66.27 crore, and day three was Rs 72.50 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. With this, Animal has amassed a total of Rs 202.57 crore. On Sunday, Animal’s Hindi occupancy rate was 79.05 per cent.

On December 01, the film was released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Despite fierce competition from Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur,’ ‘Animal’ manages to maintain a healthy box office total.
