‘Animal’ release postponed to December 1st, aims for success following ‘Jawan’ surge

‘Animal’ stands out as one of the year’s most anticipated releases, featuring Ranbir Kapoor alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri in pivotal roles. Penned and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film was initially slated for release on August 11th, much to the excitement of fans.

New Delhi: The year 2023 has undoubtedly been a thrilling one for cinephiles, witnessing the release of several highly-anticipated films that have made a significant mark at the box office. Notable titles such as ‘Pathaan,’ ‘OMG 2,’ ‘Dream Girl 2,’ ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,’ and ‘Gadar 2’ have all raked in substantial earnings, with some shattering box office records. However, amidst this cinematic frenzy, fans eagerly await the arrival of ‘Animal,’ starring Ranbir Kapoor. But disappointment loomed as the film’s release date was pushed to December 1st, and the catalyst behind this delay is none other than Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan.’

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Bhushan Kumar, the head of T-Series and the producer of ‘Animal,’ disclosed the authentic rationale for this scheduling alteration. He lauded ‘Animal’ as a remarkable creation by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, firmly announcing that December 1st is the definitive release date. The delay, he clarified, was due to some pending work on the film that needed completion.

Kumar pointed to the phenomenon of ‘Jawan’ and remarked, “If you observe, ‘Jawan’ generated massive advance bookings in the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh markets, particularly the South. Given that our director, actors, and heroine hail from the South, ‘Animal’ is designed to be a pan-Indian film. Our strategy extends beyond mere language dubbing; we intend to promote it vigorously, much like ‘Jawan’ did.”

Expanding on the challenges faced, Kumar explained, “Additionally, ‘Animal’ boasts a musical essence with a total of eight songs. Adapting these songs into different languages, ensuring they resonate perfectly with Ranbir Kapoor’s character in languages like Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, is a meticulous process. Thus, the decision to postpone was imperative, and we are content with it. The resurgence of audiences in theaters is a promising sign for the box office.”
