New Delhi: Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ was premiered in Los Angeles for cast and crew and the critics. The film’s cast and MCU stars graced the red carpet with their presence while the press was ready to capture each and every moment. The sequel received positive first reactions with Jonathan Majors being the highlight of the show.
Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are back with their characters of Ant-Man and Wasp while Majors plays the role of Kang: The Conqueror, who is a key antagonist in the MCU Phase V. The film follows Scott Lang, his family, including his daughter, into the Quantum Realm as the chaos begins to unleash.
The critics and the audience that had the privilege to watch the screening defined Kang as one of the best MCU villains so far. While most of the viewers enjoyed the spectacle, the overall experience was a bit messy and underwhelming for some. There were some who lauded the script and called the film ‘un-MCU-like’. Also, the film has two post-credit scenes.
Here are some of the initial reactions from the film critics:
#AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania should have sparked Phase 5 with a bang, but it misses the mark. The story is plagued with filler, while sufficient, lacks depth. However, Majors does give an outstanding performance as the cunning and ruthless #Kang. I wish it had left an impression. pic.twitter.com/2PFB2lMWOg

Had a blast with #AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania Paul Rudd has never been better & Jonathan Majors effortlessly conquers every second of screen-time he gets, BUT the real star of the film is Jeff Loveness’ script: a reminder of how beautifully strange & mysterious the MCU still is. pic.twitter.com/MYoL6WPlmU

The best Star Wars movie since 2018 is #AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania. It’s a huge sci-fi adventure with gorgeous world building that feels almost little un-Marvel in how much world building there is. But it’s got humor, heart, Kang completely rules & Michelle Pfeiffer steals it. pic.twitter.com/vRO2Poko2s

Jonathan Majors is a force in #AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania. He’s compelling, chilling, and already giving a top notch performance. I love the complexity he brings to Kang with literally a single look. MCU really won with this casting pic.twitter.com/4W8VCLGFBv

#AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania kicks off Marvel’s Phase Five with a vivid but messy spectacle. It never quite finds its footing and relies on style over substance, the quality never matching the confidence. Jonathan Majors’ Kang is solid but the overall film is sadly just… okay. pic.twitter.com/LzKXgCER7v

#AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania is the best of the trilogy. Higher stakes, dangers & repercussions. Its also got one the best MCU villains in #Kang. As soon as #JonathanMayors comes in, its his show. Kang is a scary lean-mean multiverse big baddie. Also, 2 cool post credits scenes. pic.twitter.com/t1V8HP2dsO

#AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania was well balanced and fast paced. I loved the father/daughter moments in the movie. Jonathan Majors is a beast as Kang. With Black Panther and now #AntManAndTheWasp it feels like @MarvelStudios is back on track. Excited to see it again! pic.twitter.com/p5J0Fm7xF1
