Kashyap responded by stating that while many actors express interest in working with him, their expectations often revolve around recreating the success of his previous films like Dev.D, Gangs of Wasseypur, or Manmarziyaan. He emphasized that he seeks actors who are open to exploring new and unconventional projects, rather than repeating past successes. However, he expressed his personal desire to collaborate with renowned actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kamal Haasan, and Vijay Sethupathi. After the release of Bombay Velvet in 2015, which starred Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap faced negative critical reception and a box-office failure. Following this experience, Kashyap made a conscious decision to avoid big actors and large-scale productions.
