Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Kennedy’ receives 7-minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival

Anurag Kashyap with the lead cast of Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat was seen emotional in the viral video as the film received a standing ovation.

New Delhi: Anurag Kashyap’s directorial venture ‘Kennedy’ received a 7-minute standing ovation at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2023. In another moment of Indian cinema being recognised globally, ‘Kennedy’ was screened at The Grand Lumiere Theatre and received applause from cinephiles, critics, and celebrities attending the festival. Anurag called it a lifetime moment to screen his film at Cannes.

Talking about the moment, the filmmaker said that it was special to show his film to the world at Cannes and added that ‘Kennedy’ is a personal and special film for him. About the standing ovation, he said that he is grateful to the audience and also felt excited at the same time.

Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat walked the red carpet as they attended the screening of their film. Anurag was also accompanied by his close friend and filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, Ranjan Singh, Kabir Ahuja, Shariq Patel, Bhumika Tiwari, Neeraj Joshi, and Ashima Awasthi at the screening.

Making her debut at Cannes, Sunny said that she feels thrilled and it is a dream for a few actors and she takes pride in it. Rahul Bhat expressed gratitude to everyone and specially mentioned Anurag.

The film follows an insomniac ex-cop, who is presumed to be dead and goes on a journey of redemption. ‘Kennedy’ also stars Megha Burman, Jennifer Picconato, Benedict Garrett, and Prammod Sanghi, and is backed by the banners of Good Bad Films and Zee Studios. The music in the film has been composed by Ashish Narula, Aamir Aziz, and Boyblanck.
