Apurva movie review: Tara Sutaria seems remarkable; tells a tale of violence and bravery

The film, which is airing on Disney+ Hotstar, is intended to send a feminist message while also demonstrating the strength of a courageous, but vulnerable, woman in the face of a group of brutal males.

New Delhi: Tara Sutaria is one of the most admired actresses in the industry, and for good reason. Now that audiences have had a chance to see her in the main part of the thriller flick Apurva, the actress seems to have completely shattered the stereotype by carrying the whole film on her shoulders.

After making quite an impact on viewers on November 15 when they saw the most exquisite and lovely actress play a very raw and rough role, the film has been a critical and commercial success.

Rajpal Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, and Dhairya Karwa also feature in the film with Tara Sutaria.

The film, which is airing on Disney+ Hotstar, is intended to send a feminist message while also demonstrating the strength of a courageous, but vulnerable, woman in the face of a group of brutal males.

Plot

The first scene of the movie depicts a group of four men viciously assaulting three guys who are travelling in a car on a desolate highway stretch in Chambal and robbing them of the jewellery that they have on them. Apurva, who is taking a bus to Agra to surprise her banker lover on his birthday, happens to meet up with them as they go off on their next operation of kidnapping her.

Sukhi, a dangerous member of the gang, falls for her, and as a result, she is taken captive by the group. Most of the sequences that come after this one are designed to give the spectator chills.

Review

The opening sequences are all about Apurva musing about her ideal existence, in which she is always surrounded by opportunities to smile. Her lover flies to Agra and she intends to surprise him on his birthday. The woman had no idea how much of a shock is coming her way.

Nikhil Nagesh Bhat helmed and wrote the film. The film gets off to a riveting start, but it gradually loses steam. For a survival thriller to work, the audience must remain on the edge of their seats for as long as possible.

But the movie starts to shine in the last minutes. We’re interested in seeing how long it takes Apurva to come up with a plan to rescue herself and whether she succeeds in doing so.

However, a little patience is required for the film’s conclusion and its buildup. In addition, there is a great deal of gore and violence in this flick.

Performance is one area where the picture succeeds well. So far, however, most of her appearances have met with lukewarm reviews and attendance. However, in Apurva, Tara demonstrates that she is a great actress who, in the right position, can carry a film on her own. Tara gives an outstanding performance in and as Apurva, easily the greatest of her career.

Abhishek Banerjee also steals the show. He makes a tremendous impression as the film’s villain. Rajpal Yadav, who is often cast in comedic parts, does a fantastic job with the villainous role he was given in Apurva. Despite having a smaller role than some of the other performers in the film, Dhairya Karwa nevertheless manages to make an impression.

Although there are several enjoyable moments in Apurva, it is Tara and Abhishek’s acting that really elevates the film.
