Arijit Singh emerges as Spotify’s third most-followed artist, surpassing global icons

Among Arijit Singh’s recent releases, his melodious voice graced the romantic track “Chaleya,” featured in the upcoming movie “Jawan,” where he lent his vocals to the versatile Shah Rukh Khan. The song’s composition is attributed to Anirudh Ravichander, with lyrics penned by Kumaar.

New Delhi:  In a significant feat, Indian vocalist Arijit Singh has outshone international sensations like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Eminem to secure the coveted third spot among the most-followed artists on the Spotify music streaming platform.

As per an India Today report, Singh now trails only behind Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande in terms of followers, marking a remarkable milestone for the Indian music industry on a global stage. Arijit Singh’s remarkable ascent in the realm of Spotify followers has positioned him ahead of other regulars on the platform, including Drake, The Weeknd, Rihanna, and Adele. This achievement can be attributed, in part, to his prolific song releases, particularly within the last eight months.

Adding to his discography, Singh collaborated with Jasleen Royal on the independent single “Heeriye,” a romantic composition. The music video for this soulful track stars Jasleen alongside the renowned Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan.

Furthermore, Arijit Singh showcased his vocal prowess in Pritam and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s album for Karan Johar’s romantic comedy “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.” His contribution included rendering the classic romantic number “Tum Kya Mile,” the retro dance track “What Jhumka,” and the poignant melody “Ve Kamleya.”

The artist also lent his emotive voice to Nitesh Tiwari’s romantic film “Bawaal,” contributing his musical charm to tracks like “Tumhe Kitna Pyaar Karte,” where he voiced for Varun.

Singh’s musical journey hasn’t been devoid of controversy. His rendition of the rehashed version of Ali Sethi’s popular song “Pasoori Nu” for the movie “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, garnered mixed responses. Addressing the criticism, Singh took to his reported Twitter handle, stating, “The maker has promised me a yearly fund for a school for underprivileged. That’s more important. Thode gaali kha lenge (I’m fine with a few criticisms).”

In 2023, Arijit Singh’s musical journey includes the romantic number “Tere Pyaar Mein” from the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar,” the peppy track “Phir Aur Kya Chahiye” from the romantic comedy “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,” featuring Vicky Kaushal, and “Khairiyat” from the blockbuster “Gadar 2,” starring Sunny Deol.

Arijit Singh’s continued success on platforms like Spotify attests to the global impact of Indian music and highlights the artist’s ability to resonate with audiences worldwide.
