Mohd Rafi-Shammi Kapoor

Rafi’s voice was most loved among the heroes of 50ties and 60ties . However it was Shammi Kapoor-Mohd Rafi association that is most talked about.

Lata Mangeshkar-Madhubaala

In her short life and career Madhubaala forged an ethereal association with Lata Mangeshkar. Lata Mangeshkar once said “Madhubala mentioned in her contracts that she wanted only me to do her playback singing.”

Kishore Kumar-Rajesh Khanna

Actress and dancer Helen  recalled their journey in the industry on Asha Bhosle’s 90th birthday in 2023. “We’ve shared a warm friendship. She is a precious navaratan of the Hindi film industry” – Helen said.

Adding further to it she said “Asha Ji is so versatile that she would modulate her voice for my songs. We have a strategic partnership of over 270 songs together”

Asha Bhosle once told Helen “Helenji if I were a man I would marry you.”

Helen a refugee from Burma(present day Myanmar) was introduced to Bollywood in 50ties by a famous dancer Cuckoo. She got her break in 1958 when she performed the song ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo’ in the movie Howrah Bridge.
