New Delhi: James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ is breaking all the records at the box office and has touched the USD 1 billion mark in just 14 days. The film takes the audience into the mystical world of Pandora, and people are surely enjoying it. The film has received positive reviews from critics as well as the audience and that is being reflected in the numbers at the box office.
The film earned around Rs 10 crore on day 14 and which takes its total to Rs 268 crore in India. The makers are getting the benefit of the holiday period and the film is still witnessing housefull shows. The sequel is on its way to matching ‘Avatar’ which grossed about USD 2.9 billion. James Cameron knows the art of creating cinematically appealing films that emerge as highest grossers, be it ‘Titanic’ of the ‘Avatar’ franchise.
‘Avatar 2’ is the fastest to hit the USD 1 billion mark since ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ did it in 12 days last year. The film is set to enter 2023 as one of the top grossers of 2022.
‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ follows the story of Jake Sully living with Neytiri and his children on Pandora. The sequel brings back Col Quaritch in a young and Na’vi avatar, who now seeks revenge from Sully. While the prequel focused on land and sky, as the name suggests, ‘Avatar 2’ dives deep into the waters. With characters from the prequel reappearing, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ also stars Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis in major roles.
