Badhai Do to Gangubai Kathiawadi: Big budget films to stream on OTT after theatrical releases

Here we’ve brought the possible streaming of star-studded films on various OTT platforms, post 3-4 weeks of their initial theatrical release

New Delhi: The year 2022, despite facing hardships owing to the surge in Covid-19 cases and the Omicron scare since the very beginning, resulting in partial shut down of cinema halls and movie multiplexes, has been quite blessed in terms of movie releases.

The trend was further extended to the second month of the year as well, with out-of-box rom com ‘Badhai Ho’,  highlighting the concept of lavender marriage (a marriage between a man and a woman for the purpose of hiding homosexuality), released in the second week of February.

Meanwhile, the last weekend of the month will also end up with Alia Bhatt’s much hyped-up magnum opus ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.

Though, here we’ve brought the possible streaming of these big-budget films on various OTT platforms, post 3-4 weeks of their initial theatrical release.

1. Gangubai Kathiawadi

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s long-delayed project, adapted from a chapter of author Hussain Zaidi’s book, ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, is slated to release in theatres on February 25. The movie which stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgan, and others, will stream on OTT giant Netflix after a few weeks of its initial release.



2. Bachchhan Paandey

The film revolves around Two friends who embark on a journey to make a film about the ruthless gangster Bachchhan Paandey. The hefty star cast includes actors Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi, Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Pankaj Tripathi, Prateik Babbar, and Sanjay Mishra. The movie will mark its theatrical presence in March, and is expected to stream online in April on Amazon Prime Video.



3. RRR

Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s upcoming project on the plot of early years of freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju, and will release on October 13 this year. Prior to that, the film is expected to make its online premiere either on Netflix or Zee5.



4. Badhaai Do

A 31-year-old sports teacher, who is interested in women, marries a cop named Shardul Thakur (Rajkummar) to get away from the family pressure. But the real twist arrives, her newly married husband also turns out to be homosexual. The movie hit the theatres on Feb 11, and is expected to arrive on Zee5 in the coming days.
