BAFTA 2022: Host Rebel Wilson vents insult against Vladimir Putin amid Russia-Ukraine war

The 2022 BAFTA awards are taking place in the middle of the heartbreaking and senseless Russian attacks on Ukraine that began on February 24.

New Delhi: While hosting the 2022 BAFTA, Rebel Wilson revealed her anger against Russian President Vladimir Putin as he declared a ‘special military operation’ on Ukraine. Amidst the raining of missiles in Ukraine by the Russian forces, Rebel Wilson showed her anger against Putin for the devastation he has brought upon the country.

At the star-studded awards ceremony in London, Rebel Wilson entertained the audience with jokes and puns with a hilarious opening monologue besides being sending out a clear message to Vladimir Putin.

The Aussie actress initially joked about the real reasons behind her 5.5 stone weight loss and confessed to having a crush on The Batman star Robert Pattinson. Eventually, she turned the attention towards a more serious issue.  Rebel clearly voiced her message to Putin at the swanky showbiz bash at The Royal Albert Hall.

While introducing Emilia Jones’ musical number, she explained to the audience there would be two sign languages interpreters on stage. Soon flipping her middle finger she said, “And this is the gesture for Putin.”

The 2022 BAFTA awards are taking place in the middle of the heartbreaking and senseless Russian attacks on Ukraine that began on February 24. The action by Russia forced made 1.5 million Ukrainians to flee from their homeland.

The meaningful opening sentence comes after celebrity guests at the 2022 BAFTA were told to keep the current Russian invasion of Ukraine in mind while choosing their attire for the evening.
