New Delhi: Last night, the 76th British Academy Film Awards, or BAFTA 2023, was revealed, and the German movie All Quiet on the Western Front dominated the occasion. The Edward Berger-directed picture won seven Oscars, including adapted screenplay, best director, cinematography, best sound, best score, and best foreign movie. The significant win has given the movie a boost shortly before the Oscars.
The Irish movie The Banshees of Inisherin and the biography Elvis were the evening’s following big winners. Austin Butler won best actor for Elvis, and the film also won accolades for casting, costume design, and hair and makeup. Banshees, directed by Martin McDonagh, received the best British picture, original script, outstanding supporting for Kerry Condon, and best-supporting actor for Barry Keoghan. Cate Blanchett, on the contrary side, received the best actress for Tar.
Similarly, the Indian documentary All That Breathes, shortlisted for a BAFTA this year, was defeated by Navalny, a film on imprisoned Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny.
