New Delhi: Korean dramas are thriving on over-the-top platforms, with shows like Beauty and Mr. Romantic, Missing Crown Prince, The Atypical Family, and Connection attracting large audiences. From romance, and slice-of-life to thriller, the most popular Korean dramas this past May 2024 weekend, as per the Korean drama Trends, are listed below.

Beauty and Mr. Romantic

The most watched drama over the weekend was this one starring Ji Hyun Woo and Im Soo Hyang, with 18.1% of the total viewership. Park Do Ra, the protagonist of the narrative, is a strong-willed, independent lady who rose to stardom under her mother’s influence to escape from poverty. All Do Ra wants to do after becoming a celebrity is relax and enjoy her money, but her mother won’t let her Due to her busy schedule, Do Ra wishes to resign from her new drama “Straightforward Romance,” but she meets her first love, assistant director Go Pil Sung.

Connection

The episode starring Ji Sung and Jeon Mi Do made 6.1% viewership over the weekend. In this criminal thriller, the unravelling of a high school friend’s murder and the distribution of 5 billion won in insurance proceeds expose the twisted friendships of those involved.

Bitter Sweet Hell

Noh Young Won, a famous psychiatrist, has an ideal existence in this Kim Hee Sun and Lee Hye Young starrer, which has 5.5% views. To rescue their family from complete disaster, Young Won and her mother-in-law, Hong Sa Gang, come together when Young Jae Jin’s romance with the mysterious Lee Se Na causes fatal occurrences.

The Midnight Romance in Hagwon
