New Delhi: The charm and aura of modest cop movies have indeed been dethroned in the past decade and what has been served on the big screens has turned out to be glamourously unenviable.
We’ve all enjoyed filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s cop multiverse filled with Bollywood-like action, thrilling dialogues, and star-studded phenomenon. And yet, the basic thirst for subtle mystery, chain of events and required plot twists seems to remain unfulfilled every time we leave the theatres.

1. Stoneman Murders

Set in the backdrop of 1980s, Mumbai is traumatized with a ruthless serial killer who murders random persons in their sleep. The movie which is based on a true incident features Kay Kay Menon, Arbaaz Khan, Vikram Gokhale, Rukhsar, and Virendra Saxena in lead roles.

A rookie in the policeforce is transferred to the anti-extortion unit of the Mumbai Police and starts working under his senior Khan. As he is learning his way into work, an ambush goes wrong while chasing a suspect, and the various circumstances that it leads to are beyong expression.
3. Raat Akeli Hai

A small town cop set off an investigation regarding the murder of a powerful, newly married local politician. However, his chase for the killer becomes vague as he get to know more about the secreative family of the victim. Netflix original film features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Shweta Tripathi in lead roles.

Imtiaz Ali directorial web series revolves around a woman constable who gets a chance to explore her true potential while working on an undercover assignment. The series features Aditi Pohankar, Vijay Varma, Vishwas Kini, and others in the pivotal roles.
5. Thar
Platform: Netflix
Set in the backdrop of 1980s, a police official who is on the edge to retire from his long service in the deserts of Thar gets a rare chance to prove himself as several brutal killings takes place in the remote town. Plot gets even more interesting with the arrival of a mysterious young man into the scenario.
