‘Bheed’ Box Office Collection: Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar starrer social drama starts poorly on day 1

As per reports, the film could earn just about Rs 15 lakhs on day 1., while gross figures as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh show Rs 29 lakhs collection.

New Delhi: Anubhav Sinha’s black-and-white feature, telling the story of migrant workers during the lockdown, earned a lot of appreciation from the film fraternity and the critics. On the other hand, ‘Bheed’ was not able to garner the audience’s support in cinemas on day 1. As per reports, the film could earn just about Rs 15 lakhs on day 1., while gross figures as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh show Rs 29 lakhs collection.

The film saw about five to seven percent occupancy in the cinemas on the opening day. While Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Anek’, starring Ayushamann Khurrana, also did not begin well but collected nearly Rs 1.77 crore on day 1.

‘Bheed’ is expected to earn more on the weekend and the audience is expected to pour in on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday figures are expected to go somewhere between Rs 20 to 30 lakhs.

The film is competing with a globally hit franchise ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’. Meanwhile, the Indian films ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’ and ‘Zwigato’ are also its competitors in the market.

‘Bheed’ shows the plight of workers who tried to reach their homes during the lockdown. The film stars Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Kritika Kamra, Pankaj Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Aditya Srivastav and others. The film reportedly went under major censorship as asked by CBFC.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta went on to call it the best ensemble cast since ‘Maqbool’ and the film fraternity has shown a positive response to the film. The word of mouth is likely to bring in more audience to the movie and the socio-political drama’s numbers are expected to rise in the coming days.
