Bhushan Kumar, Om Raut visit Vaishno Devi Shrine, announce release date for ‘Adipurush’

Sharing a picture from the auspicious site, T-Series announced the release date for the film. Now, the film is set to have a pan-India 3-D release in theatres on June 16.

New Delhi: Ahead of the release of the retelling of Ramayana, ‘Adipurush’, producer Bhushan Kumar and director Om Raut visited Vaishno Devi Shrine. Sharing a picture from the auspicious site, T-Series announced the release date for the film. Now, the film is set to have a pan-India 3-D release in theatres on June 16.

To mark the occasion of Navratri and to begin with the promotions for ‘Adipurush’, Raut and Bhushan Kumar sought the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi. The promotional campaign for the film will reportedly begin on March 30, on the occasion of Ramnavmi.

The picture shows Om Raut in a white t-shirt, standing next to Bhushan Kumar, who flaunts a black and white patterned outfit as they pose with the shrine in the frame.

The film was set to release in January this year, but the date kept on shifting as the makers were working on the post-production.

‘Adipurush’ stars Prabhas in the titular role, opposite Kriti Sanon as Sita and Saif Ali Khan as Dashanan. The film follows the epic Ramayana and uses elaborate CGI and VFX to tell the mythological story, which has also made it one of the most expensive films in Hindi cinema.

The film faced a backlash on the release of its first teaser as Hindu outfits did not like the portrayal of certain characters, including Dashanan and Hanuman. The makers decided to redo the post-production work to get satisfactory results.

‘Adipurush’ is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 500 crore and is produced under the banners of T-Series Films and Retriphiles.
