New Delhi: To bring the worst out of the inmates and stir controversies ahead of grand finale, Bigg Boss season 16 introduced the infamous ‘torture task.’
For the torture task, Bigg Boss divided the contestants into two teams. Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, Archana Gautam and Shalin Bhanot were in Team 1 while MC Stan, Shiv Thakare and Nimrit Kaur were in Team 2.
Mandali’s Sumbul Touqeer Khan wasn’t involved because Shiv suggested that Nimrit should be involved this time.
After the promo of Priyanka’s team torturing Mandli went viral, fans were left aghast.

The promo shows Nimrit Kaur sobbing as Archana Gautam smears turmeric and red chill powder on her face. Agitated Nimrit asks her to stop putting chilli power in her eyes. Archana shouts her reply, saying “I will put it in your eyes…didn’t you do that too.”

Later in the promo, while throwing water at Nimrit, Priyanka also hits her with the bucket. Chhoti Sardini’s actress begins to weep please over and over as Chilli powder is splashed all over her face.
Sumbhul, who wasn’t a part of the task, can be seen yelling at Priyanka for hitting Mandali with the bucket.
Netizens are furious over the promo and are calling it inhumane and lowly on team A’s behalf.
In the last episode, we saw Mandali torturing Priyanka, Shalin and Archana. Mandali used water, shaving foam, washing powder and oil. So naturally, Archana Gautam’s team using chilli powder didn’t sit right with many.

What is the Torture Task?
The purpose of the torture task is to regain the deducted amount from the Prize money. The original prize money is 50 Lakh rupees, but for the torture task, the amount is reduced to just 21 Lakhs and 80 Thousand rupees. If the players want the full money prize, they have to keep the buzzer pressed for 1 hour while withstanding the torture from the other team.
