Bipasha recalls Devi’s Heart Condition

Bipasha Basu shared her experience of motherhood and expressed that their journey has been quite challenging. She revealed that soon after giving birth, they discovered that their baby girl had two holes in her heart. Bipasha initially hesitated to share this information but decided to do so because she felt that there might be other mothers who have gone through a similar situation and could offer support.

Bipasha and Karan were unfamiliar with the medical term “ventricular septal defect” (VSD) and were taken aback by the news. They didn’t discuss it with their family and felt a mix of happiness and confusion. The first five months were tough for them, but their daughter Devi has been strong right from the beginning. They were instructed to monitor her condition monthly to see if the holes were healing naturally. However, due to the extent of the larger hole, surgery was deemed necessary, and it was advised to be performed when Devi turned three months old.

Bipasha on Devi’s Heart Surgery

In an emotional moment, Bipasha shared her feelings and said that they felt immense sadness, burden, and conflict when faced with the decision to put their child through open heart surgery. As believers, they hoped that the condition would naturally improve and tried to manifest healing through their thoughts. However, as the months went by without improvement, Bipasha took the initiative to gather information, meet with surgeons, visit hospitals, and consult doctors. She felt prepared for the inevitable surgery, although Karan was still coming to terms with it. Bipasha remained hopeful and had faith that their daughter would be alright, and thankfully, she is now okay after the surgery.

The surgery took place when Devi was only three months old and lasted for six hours. Bipasha described how her life felt like it had paused when her daughter was in the operation theatre. She experienced anxiety and was only relieved when the surgery was successfully completed. Bipasha expressed her gratitude that Devi is now in good health.
