Born for the Spotlight OTT Release Date: Yen Yi-wen’s acclaimed Taiwanese drama, which premiered at the prestigious 29th Busan International Film Festival, is now all set to entertain the fans on digital screens.
The web series’ main cast includes talented actors like Hsieh Ying-Xuan, Hsueh Shih-ling, and Cheryl Yang. It is poised to make its long-awaited OTT debut on Netflix on November 7th, 2024, allowing fans to enjoy it from the comfort of their homes with nothing but a basic subscription to the platform’s premium services.
Plot of the show
Penned together by Yen Yi-wen and Kitten Huang, Born for the Spotlight is a showbiz drama that takes viewers into the entertainment industry’s glamorous, ruthless & cunning world. Featuring a total of 12 episodes, the web series tells the tale of Hsueh Ya-chi and Zhou Fan, two actresses who share a strong bond of friendship with one another.
However, everything changes when Ya-chi, following her marriage to Li Zi-chi, decides to bid farewell to her acting career & become an artist manager instead. How her decision leaves Chou Fan dejected & turns the former besties into one another’s arch-rivals is the remaining story of the TV series.
Cast and Production
In its ensemble cast, Born for the Spotlight features several popular names from the Taiwanese entertainment industry including Cherry Hsieh, Cheryl Yang, Hsieh Ying-xuan, Hsueh Shih-ling, Annie Chen, Chung Hsin-ling and Yang Kuei-mei as its leading actors. The web series’ producers are Olive Ting and ng Chang-yu who have helmed it under the banner of Third Man Entertainment.
