BTS fans ask NCT 127 to apologise as Jungwoo narrates ‘free drinks’ incident on Instagram live

While Jungwoo hesitated to take the name, Taeil cleared out that he was talking about BTS.

New Delhi: During a live stream, NCT 127’s Jungwoo narrated a hilarious story of how they were once mistaken for K-pop band BTS at a restaurant in Columbia and got free drinks. Jungwoo was hesitant to take the name of the group and used the term ‘that group’. The term and the incident were not taken well by the BTS fans who started a trend asking NCT 127 to apologise.

The incident took place on an Instagram live session when the Korean band was celebrating their annual ‘127 Day’. Jungwoo narrated the story where a restaurant staff misidentified them, who were there to drink tequilas, and the eight members, as Haechan was not there, were given extra drinks. While Jungwoo hesitated to take the name, Taeil cleared out that he was talking about BTS.

This led to BTS fans starting the trend as some mistook Jungwoo’s words for disrespect for BTS while some did not like the fact that they got extra drinks in BTS’ name.

Meanwhile, there were netizens who understood that Jungwoo and NCT 127 did not mean any harm while they were just sharing a humourous incident. There were some other fans who pointed out the subtle racism towards Asian artists in other countries and also the fact that Korean bands have to be careful while taking names.

On the work front, their last album ‘2 Baddies’ came out in September 2022 and has been a massive hit. Their ‘Ay-Yo’, the 4th album repackage will be out on January 30.
