The enlistment of BTS members into the South Korean military for mandatory service has been a topic of much discussion and anticipation. Each of the seven members will fulfill their military obligations, with the expectation of reuniting as a band after their respective service periods. Suga, whose real name is Min Yoongi, recently commenced his enlistment, following in the footsteps of Jin and J-Hope.

The management agency took this opportunity to address an important concern, urging fans to be cautious about unauthorized tours or package products that unlawfully employ the group’s intellectual property (IP). Protecting BTS’s rights and image remains a priority for BigHit Music.

Military Service in South Korea

In South Korea, it is mandatory for all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 to serve in the military for approximately two years. Initially, all BTS members were granted deferments for their military service until the age of 30. Suga reached this milestone on March 9.

The issue of BTS’s military enlistment has long been a subject of discussion in South Korea. However, the group members have consistently expressed their commitment to responding to their nation’s call when the time comes.

It is worth noting that until 2013, South Korea had an “entertainment soldier” system in place, wherein soldiers were assigned tasks related to creating radio and TV content that promoted the ideals of the military. This system was later discontinued due to complaints of unfairness.

BTS, a septet composed of RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook alongside Suga, Jin, and J-Hope, has captivated the global music scene with their exceptional talent and music. With this contract renewal, the future remains bright for both the group and their dedicated ARMY.
