Cannes: Hina Khan upset for NO invitation to India Pavilion, says ‘could have been in audience’

She even repeated her old allegations where she had mentioned who the small screen actors are mocked by callind mazdoors (daily labourers)

New Delhi: Television actor Hina Khan is leaving no stone unturned to flaunt her beauty at Cannes 2022. Whatever looks of Hina have come out so far, she is wreaking havoc. But do you know that Khan is overly anguished and disheartened?

Here is what’s troubling the gorgeous diva and what is has to say regarding the ‘elitism’ present in the entertainment industry.

Khan is in dismay about not being invited to the opening ceremony of the Indian Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.

What really happened?

On the day when Indian Pavilion was inaugurated at Cannes, there were well-known actors from the Indian film industry present along with Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on the red carpet.

Celebs including Deepika Padukone, Urvashi Rautela, Pooja Hegde, Tamannaah Bhatia, and singer Mame Khan were present in the Indian delegation to the esteemed event. However, Hina Khan was not seen in the group for she didn’t get the invite.

Now Hina has expressed displeasure over this in an interview given to Film Companion in Cannes. Hina Khan said that all the celebs in the delegation belong to the same industry and everyone has come to represent India.

She further told that she was quite excited about the poster launch of her film, and that it was an honor for being from the Indian Pavilion.

“I could have been in the audience at least. I loved that Ghoomar video (that the group had performed at Cannes). I felt so proud to see my country being represented so beautifully. I am a proud Indian”, she said.

Khan’s dig at ‘elitism’ in industry

Hina Khan said that she did not blame anyone but understood that elitism was far more deep-rooted than anyone could imagine.

While talking about the disrespect for the TV actors in the industry, Hina said, “I do not see this kind of disrespect anywhere else. Actors elsewhere get equal amount of respect no matter the medium. It is still an uphill journey for us”.

She even repeated her old allegations where she had mentioned who the small screen actors are mocked by callind mazdoors (daily labourers) for working longer hours than the film actors and for being involved in projects for months and sometimes years.
