David Harbour to star in film version of video game ‘Gran Turismo’

David Harbour, who is known for ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Hellboy’, will play a retired driver who helps the teenager and teaches him to drive. 

New Delhi: Sony is coming up with a film adaptation of the popular video game ‘Gran Turismo’ and actor David Harbour will star in a pivotal role in the film. This film will mark Sony and PlayStation’s second venture together after they made Tom Holland-starrer ‘Uncharted’. The film is directed by filmmaker Neill Blomkamp.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the screenplay of the film is penned by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. The film is based on a true story of a teenage Gran Turismo player who used his gaming skills to win a series of Nissan competitions and went on to become a professional racing car driver. In the movie, David Harbour, who is known for ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Hellboy’, will play a retired driver who helps the teenager and teaches him to drive.

Gran Turismo, developed by Polyphony Digital is a popular racing simulation game available on the PlayStation. The game features some real-world vehicles to give it a real look. The gaming franchise launched in 1997 has seven series with improved graphics and experience.

The film ‘Gran Turismo’ will be produced by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions, along with Doug Belgrad and Dana Brunetti. Meanwhile, PlayStation and Sony are working on the series adaptation of the action-adventure video game ‘The Last of Us’ for HBO. The show will star Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey and Gabriel Luna.

David Harbour will be seen in Universal Studios’ ‘Violent Night’ which will be released on December 2, the actor is also a part of Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolt’ where he will play the character of Red Guardian.
