Day 10 Box Office: ‘Oppenheimer’ vs. ‘Barbie’; Cillian Murphy Starrer Defeats Margot Robbie-Ryan Gosling Movie

Early estimates and data from Sacnilk suggest that on day 10 of its cinema debut in India, Barbie brought in less money than Oppenheimer did.

New Delhi: On July 21, two of the most highly awaited Hollywood films, directed by Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan, respectively, finally hit theatres. There has been a lot of buzz and anticipation for these two movies. There was a greater thirst for them than ever before. At the Indian box office, however, Christopher Nolan’s picture has triumphed over Greta Gerwig’s. There was a massive gap in the two films’ box office takings in India.

Early estimates and data from Sacnilk suggest that on day 10 of its cinema debut in India, Barbie brought in less money than Oppenheimer did.

In terms of daily box office earnings, Nolan’s picture made Rs 7.25 crore on day 10. Oppenheimer has earned Rs 92.05 crore at the box office so far, and it’s about to break into the Rs 100 crore club. After its first week in theatres, the biography starring Cillian Murphy has grossed Rs 73.20 crore. The second Friday brought in 4.35 crore, the second Saturday brought in 7.25 crore, and the second Sunday brought in roughly 7.25 crore for Oppenheimer.

In contrast, the current Christopher Nolan picture is dominating the Indian box office, with Barbie trailing far behind. Earning a total of Rs 27.50 crore at the end of its first week, the Margot Robbie–led fantasy comedy went on to earn Rs 1.55 crore on its second Friday, Rs 3.05 crore on Saturday, and Rs 3.25 crore on Sunday. Meanwhile, Barbie has earned Rs 35.43 crore at the box office thus far.

But the international box office is observing different statistics – while Oppenheimer was able to surpass the $400 million milestone in overseas markets, Barbie was able to rake in $775 million at box offices all around the globe in only the first 10 days after it was released.
