On Friday, February 10, the movie was released exclusively in national theatre chains (multiplexes) and therefore will play for one week. On Thursday evening, trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted on twitter the formal announcement. “YRF will release ‘DDLJ’ at national retailers tomorrow… “#YRF will release the timeless classic #DDLJ tomorrow – for one week only – at #PVR, #INOX, and #Cinepolis,” read the tweet.

Even though fans are happy, Shah Rukh Khan does not seem to be happy to revisit Raj. Regarding this, he tweeted,” Arre yaar itni mushkil se action hero bana….and you guys are bringing back Raj…uff!! This competition is killing me!!!! I am going to see #Pathaan …Raj toh ghar ka hai.”

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Aditya Chopra’s directorial debut,  starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in lead roles. The film cemented Shah Rukh’s position as the top-ranked lead character in Hindi cinema, as well as his and Kajol’s on-screen chemistry. With a worldwide box office of more than Rs 200 crore, the movie was the second-highest-grossing Indian movie ever during the time of its release and remains in the top ten when adjusted for inflation.

DDLJ was indeed highly anticipated, having won 10 Filmfare Awards and one National Award for the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
