Deepika Padukone & an Influencer’s Twitter exchange over Deepika’s ‘tiny clothing’ in Gehraiyaan

Deepika Padukone and Freddy Birdy engage in a war of words owing to the latter’s sexist post on Instagram.

Deepika Padukone along with other co-actors namely Ananya Pandey and Siddhant Chaturvedi is busy promoting their upcoming film Gehraiyaan which will release on OTT on February 11. While the film’s trailer and the music received a lot of love from fans and the film fraternity, a popular influencer Freddy Birdy made a scathing comment on the same.

Freddy Birdy recently posted on his Instagram, “Newton’s Law of Bollywood. The clothes will get tinier as the Gehraiyyan release date approaches,” while a part of his caption read, “Necklines and hemlines are Gehraiyaan.”

Soon the actor took a jibe at the influencer’s post which received a lot of immense views. They forgot to mention morons.” She attached the #IYKYK sticker which stands for if you know, you know.

Freddy clarifying his earlier post about outfits worn to promote Gehraiyaan said that he had no intention to “mock” Deepika’s wardrobe choices. He also thanked her for calling him “moron” stating, “Dear Deepika, I am not “mocking you” for wearing tiny clothes. You can wear your hemlines till your toes or your ears. For all I care. And thank you for calling me a ‘moron.’ It’s the only non-fake thing you’ve uttered in your entire career.”

Birdy who has now made his account private tagged Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar, and Dharma Movies.

The internet seemed to be furious by Freddy’s casual sexist and offensive comment. While his fans regarded that “it was just a joke” others have called him out for the misogyny of his original post and his responses to others comments:

Meanwhile, Jersey actress Mrunal Thakur has been trolled for liking a sexist post on Deepika Padukone. On Saturday, she sparred with Deepika’s fans. The fan shared a post about Mrunal liking the post on Instagram to which the latter replied, “Get well soon.” In another tweet she wrote, “Bhai you are so mentally sick I wish I could get you some flowers and slam it on your face and thank you for spreading hate! Just to let you know I admire Deepika. Having said that I feel you must get yourself a life, rather than sitting at home and spreading hate, spread love!”
