Devil May Cry OTT Release: The most anticipated action-adventure series is all set to hit the OTT screens in the coming New Year 2025.
The success of the video game series has led to comic books, novelizations, two animated series, guides, collectibles, publications, and a variety of action figures.
Plot
The story of the anime series follows the life of Dante who seeks to take revenge on the murderers who killed his mother. Dante is a demon hunter who uses his business to commit a lifelong vendetta against all the demons.
The anime delves into Dante’s internal struggle with his dual heritage. While he presents a tough, devil-may-care attitude, he is deeply committed to protecting humanity, a trait influenced by his love for his deceased human mother and his rivalry with his brother, Vergil.
Dante also meets a woman named Trish who takes him on a journey to defeat the lord of the demons called Mundus who is responsible for the death of Dante’s Mother and Brother.
The game has sold more than 3 million copies. This makes it a global hit worldwide and is also considered as the greatest video game ever made.
The game is very loosely based on the Italian poem Divine Comedy by the use of allusions. This also includes the game’s protagonist Dante (named after Dante Alighieri and other characters like Trish and Vergil.
Capcom developers originally conceived the game as Resident Evil 4. Due to the staff feeling it would not fit the Resident Evil franchise, the project became its title.
Its gameplay consists of combat scenarios in which the player must attempt to extend long chains of attacks. The player must avoid damage and exhibit stylized combat by varying their attacks.
The Devil May Cry anime incorporates elements from the games. It stands alone as a self-contained story, making it accessible to both franchise fans and newcomers. It combines stylish action with humor and drama. Devil May Cry also provides a glimpse into Dante’s world, offering a fresh take on the beloved character.
