Doctor Who Series 14 Review: The English sci-fi drama sees a new time lord with a mind-blowing time & space adventure

Doctor Who Series 14 Review: In Doctor Who’s fourteenth season, which has increased production quality and outstanding storyline, the director keeps redefining the show’s long-term possibilities.

New Delhi: Doctor Who, the legendary British science fiction series, is entering its fourteenth season, and fans can’t wait for a new period full of exciting adventures and fascinating plots. An unprecedented casting decision sets the scene for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure across space and time.

One of the future Time Lords will go on a cosmic trip while promoting good works, assisting humanity, and experiencing thrilling experiences. Directors Ben Chessel, Julie Ann Robinson, Dylan Holmes Williams, and Jamie Donoughue are responsible for the next season’s episodes.

Plot

Ncuti Gatwa’s character, the Fifteenth Doctor, and David Tenant’s character, the Fourteenth Doctor, underwent an evolution that resulted in their separation. They part ways with their TARDISes after assisting him in defeating The Toymaker. The fifteenth Doctor and his trusty companion Ruby will go on a cosmic adventure in Series 14, exploring everything from the Regency period in England to strange planets in space and back again, all the way to the ’60s.

Despite this, they aid people in many times and places, creating both formidable allies and dangerous foes along the way. However, unless the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby intervene, anarchy may ensue upon the revelation of a dreadful mystery that transcends the spacetime worlds.

Where to Watch?

On May 11, 2024, Doctor Who Series 14 became available to watch on Disney Plus Hotstar. Following the 2023 Christmas special, which included an exciting journey replete with goblins, the latest season consists of eight episodes.

Cast

In this season, Ncuti Gatwa will play the part of the fifteenth doctor. Other notable actors in the cast include Jonathan Groff, Yasmin Finney, Genesis Lynea, Bonnie Langford, Lenny Rush, Indira Varma, Jemma Redgrave, and Angela Wynter.

Review

Particularly when it marks the beginning of a new era, the debut of Doctor Who has lofty objectives. In Doctor Who’s fourteenth season, which has increased production quality and outstanding storyline, the director keeps redefining the show’s long-term possibilities.

Space Babies has an effective introduction that sets out the idea. In this episode, which takes place just after the prequel, we are introduced to the Time Lords, the Doctor, and the TARDIS. Viewers are also transported to a stunningly depicted ancient landscape.

As the Doctor and his sidekick enthusiastically trade lines, the performance of each cast member takes on the tone of the series.

If the writers can strike a balance between the series’ more intense moments and its more reflective ones—the episode would be well done.
