New Delhi: Yes, the wait is finally over! Shah Rukh Khan has finally announced his collaboration with one of the biggest film directors, Rajkumar Hirani. The actor surprised his fans by taking to social media to announce his next film, after Pathan with Rajkumar Hirani. Named Dunki, the film is the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani.
What’s more interesting is Taapsee Pannu has joined the cast. Besides, Shah Rukh even called Hirani his ‘Santa Claus’ in his caption as it is releasing next year in the week of Christmas.

No teaser, no first look, but a very quirky way of announcing his next, Shah Rukh took to social media to post a video where he and Hirani in a chit-chat reveal their upcoming movie. Sharing the video on Twitter, SRK wrote, “Dear @hirani.rajkumar sir, Aap toh Mere Santa Claus nikle. Aap shuru karo main time pe pahunch jaunga. actually main toh set par hi rehne lagunga!Feeling humbled and excited to finally work with you.Bringing to you all #Dunki in cinemas on 22nd December 2023 @taapsee @gaurikhan @redchilliesent @rhfilmsofficial (sic).”

The announcement video starts with SRK glaring at a wall full of posters of Rajkumar Hirani films. Soon, Hirani walks up to him and SRK praises him for creating iconic characters like Sanjay Dutt’s Munna Bhai MBBS and Aamir Khan’s PK.
Following this SRK asks him if he has any script for him or not, to which Hirani replies, “Ek kahani hai” which includes lots of comedy and emotion. The actor then asks around romance. However, Hirani says, “Hai sir, but aap yeh wala action avoid kijiyega,” referring to SRK’s signature wide-arm pose. “Haath hi kaat lunga main, sir aap bolo toh (I will chop off my hands, you just tell me),” SRK adds at the end.
About Dunki
Dunki, a movie written by Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijaat Joshi, and Kanika Dhillon and produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan went on the floors this April 2022. The next schedule is to be shot exclusively in Punjab.
Speaking about the movie, the Hirani said, “Through the course of my career, Shah Rukh Khan has always been on my wish list and after trying to collaborate several times in the past, we were finally destined to have ‘Dunki’ mark our partnership. The energy, charisma, humour and charm that he brings to a film is unparalleled and I look forward to bringing that magic to the big screen.”
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan added, “Rajkumar Hirani is one of the finest filmmakers of this generation, we have always spoken about working together and I am extremely happy we are finally doing it with ‘Dunki’. We have just started shooting this month and I am cherishing every moment of it. Raju ke liye main Donkey, Monkey…kuch bhi ban sakta hoon!”
