Eileen OTT Release Date: The movie will finally be available to see online on June 1, 2024, thanks to Jio Cinema, making it accessible to Indian audiences.

New Delhi: William Oldroyd helms the psychological thriller Eileen, which is adapted from a 2015 book by Ottessa Moshfegh and co-written with Luke Goebel.

Two women who work in a juvenile prison in Massachusetts in the 1960s are the protagonists of this narrative that follows their relationship. There will be glitz, mystery, and an examination of female friendship, pleasure, and power relations in Eileen’s work.

On January 21, 2023, Eileen made its world debut at the Sundance Film Festival. On December 1, 2023, Neon released the film in select US theatres, and on December 8, 2023, it expanded nationwide. Now, on June 1, the film will be available to Indian fans on Jio Cinema.

Plot

Eileen, adapted from the novel of the same name by Ottessa Moshfegh, is about a strange young lady whose miserable existence seems to go on forever. In the cold 1960s Boston, Eileen shuffles back and forth between the jail where she works with coworkers who have shunned her and her father’s rundown, haunted house.

Rebecca, an attractive lady, joins the jail counsellor, and Eileen is fascinated. As Eileen’s newfound confidante begins to lift the shadow of a potential salvational relationship, a horrible event befalls her, shattering all hope. Eileen is sent astray by the disclosure of Rebecca’s sinister secret, which breaks their budding bond.

The film made its UK debut at the BFI London Film Festival on October 8, 2023, and Universal Pictures distributed it nationally in theatres on December 1, 2023.

Thomasin McKenzie plays the role of Eileen Dunlop, while Rebecca is portrayed by Anne Hathaway – the two central roles. On the other hand, it features Whigham as Jim Dunlop, Sam Nivola as Lee Polk, Owen Teague as Randy, Siobhan Fallon Hogan as Mrs Murray, Tonye Patano as Mrs Stevens, Peter McRobbie as Warden, Peter Von Berg as Dr. Frye, Jefferson White as Buck Warren, and many more.
