New Delhi: True crime documentary El Caso Asunta (better known as The Asunta Case) follows a Spanish couple as they face intense animosity after their daughter goes missing and the inquiry into her disappearance turns against them.
The murder of Asunta Basterra, a bright little kid of Chinese and Spanish origin who was 12 years old and was slain just before her 13th birthday, is the central focus of The Asunta Case. It is centred upon one of the most terrible events that occurred in Spain in 2013.
After two parents report that their 12-year-old daughter Asunta is missing, the investigation soon turns against them.

Plot
Following the tragic loss of their daughter Asunta on September 21, 2013, the lives of married Spanish couple Alfonso Basterra and Rosario Porto took a dark turn when they reported her missing.
The child’s lifeless body was discovered by the police with her limbs tied by an orange rope. It was discovered on the side of a road just outside of Santiago de Compostela, a place associated with pilgrimage. But the cops quickly uncovered clues that led them to the child’s parents, and they were convicted of Asunta’s murder. The news shocked everyone throughout Spain. The goal of the documentary series is to reveal the facts.

The documentary series on real crimes is scheduled to be made available on Netflix on April 26, 2024.
The characters – Alfonso Basterra and Rosario Porto have already been brought to light by the trailer. Rosario and Alfonso were found guilty of drugging their daughter with Lorazepam for three months before choking her to death, which caused the investigation and its verdict to create a tremor across the whole of Spain.

Cast & Crew
Tristán Ulloa plays Alfonso Basterra, Asunta’s adoptive father, and Candela Peña plays Rosario Porto, Asunta’s adoptive mother. Other notable actors in the six-part true crime series include Javier Guttiérrez, Carlos Blanco, María León, Francesc Orella, and Alicia Borrachero among many others.
Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira, Jon de la Cuesta, and David Orea are the members of the team of co-creators that are responsible for the development of The Asunta Case. It is Bambú Producciones that is responsible for producing this criminal drama series.
