Fact Check: Rs 500 notes used as tissue paper in Ambani’s NMACC party?

To be fair, there is some truth in the viral tweet. The dish in the picture is ‘Daulat Ki Chat’ which literally translates to Dessert of the rich.

New Delhi: The idea of extreme wealth fascinates us in an almost comical manner. Indians are no different when it comes to the Ambani lifestyle. Whether it be their extravagant fashion or opulent gala, every little detail is observed with great attention.

Recently, Nita Ambani made her way to the top of the headlines with the inauguration ceremony of her cultural hub NMACC. From Varun Dhawan sweeping Gigi Hadid off her feet to Indian paparazzo mispronouncing names, the event was no short of meme-worthy moments.

Amidst all this came a viral tweet, where the user posted a picture of some dessert. The plate was decorated with Rs. 500 rupees notes as if they are tissue papers. It was captioned, “Ambani Ji ki Party mein 500 ke notes tissue ki tarah use hote hai.”

While some gullible souls fell for the obvious bait, others were quick to clarify the original source of the money-laden dessert.

To be fair, there is some truth in the viral tweet. The dish in the picture is ‘Daulat Ki Chat’ which literally translates to Dessert of the rich. The dessert is served in a premium quality restaurant called The Indian Accent. So, it makes sense if it has found a place in Ambani’s feast.

According to the menu of The Indian Accent, Daulat ki Chaat is priced at 725 rupees. It is a rich milky traditional soufflé that is topped with exquisite dry fruits. It is served with rose chikki. The fake money is used as decoration to elevate the look of the plate.
