Fans fume as Taylor Swift’s deepfake PICs go viral, X suspends accounts for reposting singer’s explicit images

New Delhi: On Wednesday, several inappropriate AI-generated deep fakes of Hollywood’s acclaimed singing sensation Taylor Swift went viral all over Twitter (X) garnering millions of views and likes before eventually being taken down by the platform.

In the deep fakes, the 34-year-old singer was portrayed naked participating in explicit sexual scenarios in a football stadium with the help of AI tools that allow one to create fake & fabricated images of a person by choosing their actual pictures & undressing them digitally.

Taylor Swift’s Fan Jumps in Her Support

Not much after Taylor Swift’s objectionable explicit deep fake pictures emerged on social media, her fans jumped in her support and flooded Twitter (X) with millions of positive posts for the singer. While some trended #Protecttylorswift and stood with the Champagne Problems singer, others mass reported the accounts that were reposting her AI-generated vulgar pictures and got them suspended.

One user wrote, “Y’all weirdos posting AI photos of Taylor Swift are sick af lmao, u are pathetic and weird and need to do something better with your time.”  “Another said, “Protect Taylor Swift the way she protects her fans. And swifties have protected her in the best possible way.” A third person stated, “Creating an AI of her naked body and engaging in sexual harassment is unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, Elon Musk-owned X has also swung into action amid the controversy, suspending multiple accounts from its platforms that were sharing and reposting the deepfake images of the renowned singer. However, despite this, Taylor’s fans have been continuously slamming it for failing to address the alarming issues of celebrities’ nonconsensual deepfake circulation on its platform.
