Lady Sarah is intent on selling the ranch, which she sees as an unwanted responsibility. However, upon her arrival, she finds her husband murdered under suspicious circumstances. Following her husband's death, Lady Sarah discovers that the ranch is on the brink of financial collapse and is under threat from King Carney, a powerful and ruthless cattle baron who seeks to take control of Faraway Downs. To save the ranch, Sarah forms an unlikely partnership with The Drover. The Drover is a rugged and independent cattleman known for his no-nonsense attitude and skill with livestock. Together, Lady Sarah and The Drover undertake the monumental task of driving 2,000 head of cattle across the unforgiving Australian outback to Darwin, where they hope to sell the herd and keep the ranch afloat. Along the way, they face immense challenges, including natural disasters, hostile competitors, and their growing attraction to one another. True to Baz Luhrmann’s style, Faraway Downs combines sweeping cinematography, vivid visuals, and grand emotional arcs. The Australian landscape becomes a character in its own right.
