About Frida Kahlo

Three years before Mexico’s Revolution, Frida Kahlo came into this world in 1907. She was born to a German father and a Spanish mother. Throughout her life, she had been tormented with polio. Being a talented photographer, her father served as a role model for her.

She began wearing her distinctive traditional Tehuana garments in 1929, the year she wed Diego Rivera. A long skirt, a gorgeous flower headpiece, a plethora of golden jewellery, and a loose-fitting top make up the costume. Eventually, Diego had an affair with Frida’s sister. For her, this was a very terrifying period.

Paintings of Frida Kahlo, such as The Two Fridas and Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird, display her distinctive style and delve into topics of self-discovery, suffering, and perseverance.
