From 83 to Gehraiyaan to Loop Lapeta: Top 6 Bollywood flicks releasing on OTT in February

For most of the time theatres and cinema halls being closed, people have opted to OTT platforms to watch the latest films.

New Delhi: Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown made way for ‘Over the Top’ (OTT)  platforms, streaming wide array of web series inside the confines of homes. Now, that has become a prevailing trend all across.

These OTT platforms have also opened myriad avenues for the budding directors to showcase their talent. So intesnse is their appeal that even seasoned filmmakers are also exploring the new medium of digital platforms for their releases.

Altogether, the OTTs have thrown up amazing digital platform that we can’t afford to miss.

Thus, to make your February worth, here is the list of some upcoming releases:

1) Looop Lapeta (Feb 4) – Netflix

Originally adapted from the German film, Run Lola Run, Looop Lapeta stars Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin. The story is about a woman who tries to rescue her boyfriend after being kidnapped. Fans are eagerly waiting for the movie after the release of the trailer. The movie is directed by Aakash Bhatia.

2) Gehraiyaan (Feb 11) – Amazon Prime

Ever since the release of the teaser, Gehraiyaan has created a lot of hype among the fans. Shakun Batra’s directorial Gehraiyaan stars Deepika Padukone, Ananya Pandey, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa in the leads. The story revolves around love and betrayal.

3) The Fame Game (Feb 25) – Netflix

Madhuri Dixit will make her OTT debut with ‘The Fame Game.’ The series features Sanjay Kapoor, Manav Kaul, Suhasini Mulay, Lakshvir Saran, and Muskkaan Jaferi in pivotal roles. The series is directed by Bejoy Nambiar and Karishma Kohli and bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment.

4) Love Hostel (Feb 18) – Zee 5

The Gurgaon director, Shanker Raman has Love Hostel in his pipeline. The movie stars Bobby Deol, Vikrant Massey, and Sanya Malhotra as the leads. The movie is produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Drishyam Films.

5) Rocket Boys (Feb 4) – Sony Liv

Inspired by the original stories of Dr Vikram Sarabhai and Dr Homi J. Bhabha, Rocket Boys revolves around two legendary nuclear physicists and their historical creation while building India’s future. Ishwak Singh plays the role of Dr Vikram Sarabhai while Jim Sarbh plays the role of Dr Homi J. Bhabha. Helmed by Abhay Pannu and created by Nikkhil Advani, the series also features Regina Cassandra, Rajat Kapur, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Saba Azad, and Arjun Radhakrishnan in pivotal roles.

6) 83 (Feb 18) – Disney+Hotstar, Netflix

Although the movie had its theatrical release, fans have been waiting for its OTT release from the very beginning. Thus, the makers of the movie finally declared its OTT release for its fans. The movie revolves around the legendary cricketer, Kapil Dev who chased the dream of winning the 1983 World Cup for the first time for India. Helmed by Kabir Singh, the movie featured Ranveer Singh in the role of Kapil Dev.
